Thresholds needs your help! |
Thresholds has received a series of letters from the State of Illinois telling us that our funding will be cut so dramatically – catastrophically in many cases – that thousands of our members will be in jeopardy. Click here for a news release about the cuts.
The State faces a budget deficit of more than $11 billion — the largest in history. The Governor and State legislative leaders are meeting to discuss the issue, but it seems unlikely that an agreement can be reached by June 30, as saving these services will require a tax increase. The alternatives put forward to date include implementation of huge cuts on July 1 or funding programs more fully for 6 months and hope to resolve the tax question before January 1. While not a final resolution, we support the latter.
Clearly, this is very distressing. Each of you knows how critical our services are and how few alternatives most of our members have. We are asking you to share your perspective and your stories about the importance of good mental health services like those provided by Thresholds with your State Senator and State Representative.
