Training and Workforce Development

The Thresholds Workforce Development Department offers workshops, conferences and other training opportunities to Thresholds employees and outside providers, advocates, consumers and family members.

General Training Sessions and Seminars
Registration for our training sessions and seminars are available to the public, providing space is available, for a fee. Seating varies by training location and topic. Training Session/Seminar Topics include:

  • Understanding Mental Illness and Recovery
  • Cultural Diversity and Anti-Discrimination Policies
  • Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment
  • Safe Practices, including de-escalation techniques, community violence, and crisis intervention
  • Clinical Best Practices, including Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Leadership Development

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid training are now available from Thresholds. These courses helps members of the community identify signs of developing mental illness and substance abuse disorders, and also provides hands-on training for use in various kinds of situations where people may be showing signs and symptoms of mental illness in the community. Mental Health First Aid training costs $40 per participant, or $60 per participant seeking continuing education units (CEUs). This costs covers the training, a certification that is good for 3 years, and and official course book.
