The Living Room

Thresholds offers mental health crisis support through The Living Rooms. The Living Room is an entirely peer-led mental health crisis respite center, an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization. The Living Room at Thresholds is a comfortable, safe, and quiet place for those experiencing a mental health crisis. This program is run for those in recovery, by those in recovery.

What is “The Living Room”?

 

The Living Room is available 24 hours – 7 days a week

The Living Room is Ideal for Those Experiencing any of the following:

  • Overwhelming thoughts or emotions
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Excessive anxiety
  • Extreme depression
  • Thoughts of harm
  • Feeling unsafe
  • Increase in mental health symptoms

What can you expect when you come to The Living Room?

Our services are free of charge. Our staff are trained recovery support specialists who use their personal experience to help others better cope with serious mental illnesses.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted and assessed for safety before being offered respite in a comfortable area.

Staff will offer emotional support and resources to help you feel empowered, in control, and hopeful about the future of your recovery.

The Living Room offers community resources for those experiencing psychiatric emergencies:

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Safety Planning
  • Safe space to decompress
  • Support from trained Certified Recovery Support Specialist
  • Assistance with problem solving
  • Referrals for community resources for housing, healthcare, and food
