Ishaug recognized for civic leadership and role in efforts to expand mental health resources across Illinois

May 01, 2023, CHICAGO, IL – Today, Thresholds’ Chief Executive Officer Mark Ishaug was named one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2023 Notable Health Care Leaders. The annual list celebrates leaders for their pioneering accomplishments and ability to adjust to crises. Ishaug was recognized for his continued work advocating for persons living with mental health and substance use conditions using a holistic approach to healthcare.

Outside of Thresholds, Ishaug is a dedicated civic leader. He has played a critical role in statewide efforts to increase Illinois’ Medicaid, mental health and substance use treatment funding by $200 million, allowing organizations across Illinois to further invest in life-saving services.

“It is an honor to be recognized alongside these dedicated and accomplished leaders who are all making integral changes to improve the landscape of healthcare in Chicago,” said Mark Ishaug, Thresholds CEO. “I am so thankful to my team at Thresholds for their ceaseless work to address health disparities and create opportunities for historically underrepresented communities. Our people make this mission possible, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead so many like-minded and passionate individuals.”

As the leader of Thresholds, Ishaug is committed to seeking racial justice in healthcare and works to ensure that all levels of the organization, from the C-Suite to the frontlines, reflect the communities they serve. As part of his mission to make healthcare more accessible for everyone, he has served on the National Council for Mental Wellbeing Board of Directors. He was also recently elected to the National Register of Health Service Psychologists Board of Directors.
